Ecotools

I've always loved brushes, there's a certain addictive quality about them which makes me purchase a new load every few months. I've used MAC mainly, but have also been very lucky to get my hands on some Chanel brushes as well as owning a few Japonesque brushes. However it came to that time where I wanted to purchase some new brushes and had been eyeing up some Sigma brushes especially the flat top Kabuki F80 brush,
as well as wanting to get my hands on some of the Real Techniques brushes designed by UK professional makeup artist Samantha Chapman. However recently there has been a complete shortage of dollar, but my craving was still standing and it needed to be dealt with.

So last weekend I decided to purchase a collection of 'Ecotools' brushes from Boots as I have heard great reviews about them being the best 'drugstore' brushes out there. I have to say I compeltely agree with that statement.
The set I got was called the Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set and included.. - £15.99
- Blush Brush
- Eye Shading Brush
- Angled Eyeliner Brush
- Concealer Brush
- Lash and Brow Groomer
I also purchased the Bamboo Powder Brush on top of that - £9.99

I can positively say I absolutely love this little set, the powder brush is so soft, it reminds me of the Chanel's powder brush which is very impressive. The only fault I have about the set is the angled eyeliner brush just doesnt work with my Urban Decay NAKED palette which I live off as it doesnt want to pick up much of the shadow itself, which is a pain especially when im using 'Creep' for a dark eyeliner line on the top of the eye.
What's also great about this cute little set is the fact it is so light and can be carried around really easily, also with their slogan being 'earth-friendly beauty' and studying Geography at Uni I think these brushes are highly appropriate!

Lengthening those Lashes

Since the age of about 15 I have been obsessed with eyelashes and will not venture out on a night out without a pair of them for extra flutter! I have to admit I have never ventured away from Eylure as they are just so cheap and so brilliant and unless I tried some of MAC's or Benefit's I cant bring myself to believe that any other false eyelash company will beat them.
Throughout the years I have tried so many lashes and have found my ultimate 3 favourite

From Left-Right

1. Super Full - you can see from my other two favourites that these are the more natural ones and provide a gorgeous look that I would consider wearing day to day. These are perfect for occasions when you need a bit of volume and lengthening but not too excessive i.e. weddings/family parties. They also look the most 'natural' out of the 3 so look more like an amazing mascara then anything (what else would you want?!)

2. Evening Wear - these are my absolute favourite ones because you can wear them on a mad night or a massive girlie night and they give incredible definition to your lashes! They're much thicker than Super Full but are not too long they look ridiculous. I find they look fabulous in photos and makes your eyes look absolutely beautiful! This is a picture from May 2011 of me with my Evening Wear Lashes on - as you can see it gives your lashes wonderful definition and makes your eyes stand out beautifully!

3. Party Perfect - Pitch Dark - these are the big momma of all eyelashes, they are massively long! What I love about these though is they're not as thick so it doesnt look as ridiculous it just looks like your lashes are extremely long which in my opinion makes you look so much nicer on a night out! (I would never advise anyone to wear these out day to day though, they are very big and you would get a fair few stares...) Whenever I wear these ones I feel like they make my eyes look so much bigger and I love massive eyes I think they're such an important feature to the face. Apologies for the photo being so dark but you can see hear that they are massive! So gorgeous though - so out going and crazy and I love that! Beautiful Lashes!

On the topic of Lashes -  I must mention how excited I am to be trying Eylure's NEW Katy Perry lashes once they're in stores! My Favourite ones look to be 'Oh Honey!' However I may feel really daring and try out the 'Oh My!' lashes for mega volume!

What is your view on lashes and what are your favourite ones?

Diana F

So for Christmas my lovely boyfriend was lucky enough to receive a Diana F camera from his parents. This camera is so old school and so I thought after having the pictures developed (see what I mean by old school) I thought I would share the best ones!

Because I have a Nikon D300 myself I was a bit sceptical about the quality of the photos and what they would look like once developed, but I must say they have really impressed me and I am very keen to get myself a Diana F as they are so much fun and so easy to carry around! Plus you can do some amazing effects on them which you cant do (cheaply) on a normal SLR.
So enjoy these lovely snaps!!

p.s excuse the many unattractive photos - thought they were quite funny

Temping

Over the Christmas holidays I was lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to work behind the Chanel Counter in my local Boots, of course, adoring their make up I had to accept the offer and within the next week I had been given my uniform and was spraying every person with the oh so famous 'Coco Mademoiselle'. My last job was horrendous so to find out I was going to be working with something I really enjoyed - make up and fragrance was like a breath of fresh air and I couldn't wait to begin.

There will be plenty of you who would LOVE to work as a 'Beauty Counter' girl, and trust me if I was able to go back to any counter, make it YSL, Clarins, Benefit or back to Chanel I would thrive the opportunity, however I must warn you it is not as glamorous as it all seems.. This occurred to me from the word go where i was told in these exact words "Cake your make up on in the morning because you will have no time to sort it throughout the day unless you're on your lunch break". Of course that didn't completely happen as we would once and a while use the testers just to top up any fading bit of blusher or bronzer. But in addition to that there was always this feeling of competitiveness between the counters and we all know how bitchy girls can get when they're fighting other girls to look the best...

It was an exciting experience I must say and it's taught me many different skills when it comes to dealing with moody customers who cant accept the fact the shade of lipstick they want just isn't in stock..

I was also VERY lucky to be given a load of leaving presents on my departure, I was given 4 Chanel box's and these have gone into use very well! I was also given a bunch of 'Sublime de Chanel' Chanel's newest mascara as well as a large 'sample' of their Matt Lumière which was unfortunately discontinued (:() but this means I will definitely HAVE to try their new perfection Lumière! It is on the top of my 'must have' list.

So the life of a 'Beauty Counter' girl, is it all glitz and glam?

Introductions..

After spending most of my nights for the past few months or so making my way through nearly every beauty/fashion/lifestyle blog out there I decided that I might as well jump on the bandwagon and give this 'blogging' thing a try..
First things first, I'm Sophie I'm 17yrs old and studying for my A2's, October 2012 I'm hoping to go to Loughborough Uni to study Geography, and seeing as that's not the girliest subject in the world I thought this would be the best way to talk about all things girlie related.

So here is my 'girlie related' blog where I will be posting lots of reviews of products, new purchases and general life of a girl from London! Welcome to my blog!
